DOCTOR SHEF’S STORY

At the age of 4, Doctor Shefali moved to Sharjah, U.A.E where she did her entire schooling before moving back to the U.K. to attend Medical school in Manchester. She then went on to get her MSc. in Sports Medicine. Doctor Shefali has been involved in both individual and team sports like Squash and basketball for most of her life, representing school, University and at club level. Sports Medicine was therefore the speciality of choice for her master’s degree. This specialised training meant that she could work with all athletes, from professionals to the weekend warriors. During the next few years she also trained as a strength coach under the late Charles Poliquin where she was introduced to the concept of an athlete’s “outside appearance” and body composition being correlated with their “inside performance”. She became fascinated at manipulating and optimising body composition through nutritional strategies. This interest in the “process of disease” was followed by years of research into lifestyle medicine and her obtaining her degree in Nutritional Therapy.

With 13 years of clinical practice, managing patients with chronic diseases and herself becoming a mum to twin girls, her purpose has evolved into the more "proactive” approach with the hope for a better next generation. She wishes for more people to seek their “best self” and not just a recovery from their “sick self”.

“If the next generation is not better than us, we have failed.”

Even today, Doctor Shefali practises what she preaches. She’s a keen crossfitter and qualified for the Crossfit games quarterfinals in 2022 and 2023 by being in the top 10% of the world and India’s top female athlete in her age category.

Other corporate engagements include The Prime Minister’s Office at the Government of Dubai, The Executive Council at the Government of Dubai, the HR department at Emirates NBD Bank and Nasco Koraoglan Insurance.
